Quite a few of the journal writers I read on the web regularly, use a photo for reference for their sketches and paintings, so that is the way I thought was the best for me - my memory for detail is shoddy. I forget to look for connections to and relationships between. Hmmm, maybe this is not such a good way for me to do it. Perhaps I should start an exploring phase in my journal and see what happens when I draw just what I remember. It might improve how I look at things, draw what has the most impact on me, I might be able to draw what I feel. It might also be most frustrating - how to fill the gaps!
